Wildfire Survivors Receive Tiny Home | 9Rooftops
Filmed and edited by Rob and Chelsea Jackson for 9Rooftops and Sutter Home Wines
10 minutes | 2021
Lexi Ramsey and her family were fortunate to survive the Camp Fire of 2018 which destroyed the homes of 26,000 people in and around Paradise, California. Amazingly, that event is just one element of Lexi’s incredible story. Sutter Home Wines and Project Tiny Home made Lexi the recipient of a grant to help her buy her own tiny home as a gift for her relentless love and support of others.
Production Team Notes: We traveled to Northern California by car in the throes of the 2020 Covid pandemic era to film with Lexi and her family alongside 9Rooftops producer Mike Dunn. Filming was comprised of interviews that almost entirely relied on natural light, a lot of b-roll and cinéma vérité filming as well as aerial cinematography. It was humbling to spend time in Paradise to witness and document the aftermath of an enormous windblown wildfire that essentially leveled the entire town. Special thanks to Lexi and her family for letting us spend time with them to help share her story.
